I believe the Child Africa Charity Organization to be a legitimate Organization. The email scam was from an individual claiming to be one of their directors. I posted this email to help anyone to be aware of the email scam NOT THE ORGANIZATION.

It is sad that people are out there that will go to such an extent to fraud others.

At Child Africa, we work hard to support the community. As a brand, we aim to help improve the quality of life for children and their families. Todays article: “Safeguard your online assets with good habits”

The article explains how Javeline Strategy and Research found that monitoring account activity online tended to discover suspicious activity more quickly. Nothing new for the ID theft expert here, but it is worth noting the amount of savings if early detection.

Victims that monitor their information online paid out an average of $551.00 per incident. Victims relying on paper statements paid an average of $4,543 per incident.

The experts will tell you to monitor your accounts online for this reason, but make sure you practice good habits when doing so. Here were some suggestions;

1. Install a firewall, you’d be surprised how many people still don’t have some basic computer protection programs.

2. Install and update antispyware and antivirus programs. I think it’s the update part here that is so crucial. Again most folks probably don’t have the upgrades and their software is old.

3. Avoid accessing financial information in public. Yes that means your favorite coffee shops free wireless service is probably not too secure for you to view your personal banking information. 

4. Don’t open mystery attachments. If you don’t recognize the sender let alone the attachment it’s probably a best bet to just delete.
